Video production encompasses a very diverse range of activities and outcomes. Corporate video includes many different genres of videos - podcasts, company profiles, digital ad films, TV ad films, interviews, event coverage - and most companies end up requiring a range of video types to fully capture their marketing and product video requirements. So calculating video production costs in India isn’t a quick, one-shot exercise.

Secondly, different industries come with their own sets of additional parameters. A medical-grade animation video will pass through many more layers of quality checks and technical expertise requirements, than will a general-purpose social media animated video.

And finally, there are logistics costs that complicate everything. We've seen video shoots where logistics were 60 to 70% of the total cost of the production - Just because a whole team has to travel, trucks worth of equipment have to go with them, and the shoot is in a remote location.

So let's take a look at video production pricing in India for your marketing and communications requirements. This guide offers a video production cost breakdown in India across every major category, with specific rupee ranges so you can walk into any agency conversation with a working budget in hand.

TV ads: Video Production Cost Breakdown by Tier

This is by far the most expensive category of corporate videos. This could be anywhere from 10 lakhs for a short ad, to a few crores, just on ad film production costs. It's very hard to pin down a more specific range than that because the parameters can vary so much.

For example, a celebrity ad campaign will add a lot to the cost of professional video production, and not just in terms of celebrity fees. Celebrities might insist on a certain set of directors, who then come with their own crew requirements. These are typically the most experienced teams (and hence charging the highest fees). Then the logistics to support the celebrities and their entourage, and the added crew, including stylists, props, makeup, etc. So the celebrity category should be treated separately from any non-celebrity ad, because it adds on so many layers.

If there's no celebrity involved, then the costs come down significantly, but you still have to account for a good number of video production pricing factors, such as an experienced crew, talent, music, locations, and more. Keep in mind that if you talk about a TV ad, everyone charges more, and often with good reason - because they know that the expectations are going to be much higher. There is much more riding on a single video, so everyone commensurately puts in much more effort and thought, and hence charges more.

  • Entry: 10-20L (no celebrity, known crew, single location)

  • Mid: 25-60L (experienced director, multiple locations, name talent)

  • Premium: 60L-2Cr+ (top director, celebrity, large crew, multiple shoot days)

  • Tier mover: Celebrity vs no celebrity is the single biggest jump; director choice follows

  • Common mistake: Budgeting for production without accounting for the downstream demand it creates - top directors bring their own crews, their own timelines, their own ecosystem

Digital Ad Films: Corporate Video Production Cost Guide

We've done digital ad films ranging from a couple of lakhs to 40-50 lakhs. And we've seen cases where the budget has gone to a crore, and pre-production costs by themselves run into many lakhs. The biggest factor for a digital ad film is that even though it's not meant for TV, brands still want to put a lot of emphasis if there's a new product launch riding on this ad. So they still want top-notch production values, and top talent (both creative and crew).

And the location can make a huge difference. Studios can be very expensive, and costs vary wildly by city. Choosing between Bombay and Hyderabad, for example, can drastically drop your costs. It might just be cheaper for your team and products to travel to a different city and shoot there than to shoot the whole thing in Bombay, because everything from locations to crew is much more expensive.

If you're a startup, then you have a lot of flexibility here. Focus carefully on who your audience is and more importantly, who your competition is. If you're launching a premium product and competing with the Unilevers of the world, then you can't afford to skimp out on the budget. But if you're creating a new category and your positioning is not super premium, then try not to overspend on your production budget - speak to the production agency about the different parameters and where you can maybe save on your costs. To take just one example, music composition usage rights fees will vary if you say that you’ll run the ad for more than a year versus if you just run it for a month.

So ask your video production house about these details. Make it clear you're not just looking for a bargain – you’re trying to see where you can avoid overspending, and maybe use that budget better elsewhere.

  • Entry: 3-8L (studio or single location, mid-tier crew, no name talent)

  • Mid: 10-25L (experienced crew, multiple setups, name talent possible)

  • Premium: 30-60L+ (high production values, top creative, multiple cities possible)

  • Tier mover: City of shoot and number of shoot days

  • Common mistake: Treating this like a cheaper TV ad rather than a different brief entirely; also under-budgeting music rights for multi-platform use

Social Media Reels and Performance Ads Budgeting

These are the videos that can really be done on a budget, for multiple reasons. Firstly, they're meant for quick viewing and quick scrolling. You want to land the message and move on quickly. So production quality is not as important as in the videos we've discussed so far.

Secondly, you can get a lot of quantity because these are going to be short videos with a simple message. So you can optimize for getting, say, 8-10 videos done in a single day's shoot.

Thirdly, this is an area where AI videos can really help. We're covering that later in this article.

If you're on a budget, you can get a great product video shoot done for performance marketing at 20-30,000 rupees a video, if you’re clubbing multiple products into a single day’s shoot. As you move up the production quality value chain, this can go all the way up to 50-70 lakhs for a shoot for a single product. But there's huge variability and diminishing marginal returns at play here: you could get production values that are 80% as good as the really high-level, high-quality productions that the MNCs use for product launches - for 30-40% of the spend.

So knowing what you want, and having reference videos, becomes really important.

  • Entry: 20-40K per video (single setup, product-forward, minimal crew, multiple products being shot in a single day)

  • Mid: 60K-1.5L per video (styled shoot, experienced editor, multiple formats delivered)

  • Premium: 2L-10L per video (high production values, talent, original music)

  • Tier mover: Number of final deliverables and styling requirements; batch shoots change the per-unit economics significantly

  • Common mistake: Treating all performance ads the same, regardless of product tier; a premium product shot at entry level actively damages the brand

Event Video Production Costs

This is an area that's easier to estimate. Unless you're doing mega launches, you can get fantastic event videos for a reasonable and predictable cost. If you're just looking for basic coverage of your company's presence at an event or maybe a conference, you could get by with a two-cam setup, resulting in footage that can be set to music for a quick video that you can post on LinkedIn, for anywhere from 20,000 to a lakh.

The only caveat here is that an event does not happen twice. So try to gauge the professionalism of the person you're hiring or the team you're hiring, because if anything goes wrong on the day of the event, you can't really do anything. You've lost out on the event coverage.

The next tier here is professional-looking event videos that encompass, but more than just broad footage. You want to maybe conduct some guest interviews, gather some testimonials from customers who might be at the event, and end the event with a nice summary video that you can also share with your customers – and hope that they’ll share with their network too. The same team can do it, but they'll carry more equipment and they will be there for longer. So now you're looking at likely a three-cam setup with audio equipment, lighting, a more experienced team, multiple social media edits, and one main feature video. So budget for anywhere from 60,000 to 2 lakhs for this (and of course the premium tier can go even higher)

  • Entry: 15-70K (one to two cameras, basic edit, cut to music)

  • Mid: 70K-2L (multi-cam, audio, lighting, guest interviews, multiple deliverables)

  • Premium: 2L-8L+ (broadcast-grade coverage, large team, same-day edits, multiple feature videos)

  • Tier mover: Number of deliverables expected and audio requirements

  • Common mistake: Hiring just based on price for a one-time event; unlike any other category, there is no reshoot

Company Profiles and Facility Tours Production Budgeting

This is another category where you can easily reduce cost by ignoring professionalism, but you don't want to risk it. It's very easy to get someone who will come down with a camera and a mic and record everything for even Rs. 30-40,000. But company profile videos are where you want great edits, and you want a very strong degree of professionalism - for many reasons.

One, you're bringing together the busiest people in your team for a shoot. You don't want things going wrong - because the effort it will take to gather them again is going to be significantly more than whatever you're saving by hiring a more affordable team.

Secondly, you might have multiple facilities or multiple departments to capture within a short shoot. So you want someone who thoroughly plans it out, who does a site recce and knows what he or she is getting into, is professionally organized, and of course carries professional equipment with redundancy to account for potential failures on the day of the shoot.

Logistics also plays a huge role here. For example, if you have multiple facilities within the same city and all of them need to be captured, this might extend the shoot and add equipment movement costs.

Finally, we’d like to re-stress that this video will likely feature at every event that you go to, and on your website and LinkedIn. You’ll probably share these videos with external teams - company profile videos go a long way in communicating your values to your potential customers and government. A little extra care here goes a long way.

  • Entry: 60K-1.5L (basic edit, one location)

  • Mid: 1.5-4L (experienced crew, site recce, multiple departments, professional edit)

  • Premium: 5-10L+ (multi-location, multiple shoot days, high-end edit, motion graphics)

  • Tier mover: Number of locations and whether senior talent needs to be on camera

  • Common mistake: Under-investing in a video that will represent the company for two to three years across every touchpoint

Podcasts and Interview Videos Production Costs

Here's another area where a little extra care towards professionalism is worth paying for. Because here too, you're dealing with either clients or top management, and the effort & cost involved in getting them together again will far likely outweigh the additional cost of going with someone who's professional.

A basic podcast or interview setup in your office will involve two cameras, audio equipment and lighting. And we'll probably start from 35 to 40,000 in a non-Metro, and add a premium for expensive cities like Bombay and Bangalore. Professional setups and an experienced team that you've got a great reference for, can go from a lakh to two lakhs.

This typically assumes 4-6 hours of time. Then there are studio costs. And interestingly enough, the studio is probably going to cost you less than shooting inside your office - because podcast & interview studios are present in every large city. They're very well organized for interview shoots, and videography teams love them because everything is set up - they just come in with limited equipment and start shooting, versus having to do a comprehensive sound and lighting setup in your office cabin which can involve a lot of unknowns, a recce, and a lot of extra time in setup. So see if you can possibly shoot in a podcast studio, for simplicity.

  • Entry: 35-70K (two cameras, basic audio, office location)

  • Mid: 1-2L (experienced team, professional lighting, clean audio, multiple cuts)

  • Premium: 2L-5L (broadcast-grade setup, multiple guests, branded graphics)

  • Tier mover: Location - office shoots carry hidden costs in setup time and unknowns that studios eliminate

  • Common mistake: Underestimating setup complexity in an office environment; studios are often cheaper net of the time saved

AI Video Production Pricing

This is a new field that only came up two to three years ago, and has seen an explosion in traction & interest, as the models get better and closer to photorealism. Having said that, photorealism isn't the only goal here. Everything else - the storyboarding, the mood boarding, the scripting, the concepts - still needs that creative flair and professional talent at work.

You'll get individual editors who can do AI videos for you starting at 15-30,000 for a 30-second ad, going all the way up to a few lakhs from a professional studio. Keep in mind that there is significantly more variability in quality & professionalism here than in any other kind of video, just because this is a very new field. And AI gives the *ability* for one person to do everything, but not the *expertise*. So while a professional editor might be great at editing and he might now have gotten into prompt engineering, he might or might not have the creative skill that is required to understand the requirements and deliver a great ad. This is an area where variability will have to be factored in, so try to get a reference from a friend or colleague who’s had a great experience.

  • Entry: 15-50K (individual editor, single format, standard quality, lack of consistency)

  • Mid: 60K-1.5L (professional team, multiple formats, brand-consistent output)

  • Premium: 2L-5L+ (full production system, campaign-level output, multiple languages and variants)

  • Tier mover: The creative and strategic layer, not the generation tools - the technology is commoditizing fast; the judgment behind it is not

  • Common mistake: Evaluating AI video vendors on cost alone; the range within this category is wider than any other because the barrier to entry is low and expertise is unevenly distributed

Professional Animated Video Production Costs

Animated video production is a well-established field for the last many decades. And while technology has evolved a lot, this is a disciplined field with predictable costs, as long as you are sure of what you are looking for. 2D animation is the most cost-effective, but can end up looking cartoonish if not done well. You can get a one-minute video done for as low as 30 to 40,000. The quality depends on the artists/studio, so definitely look at the portfolio first. Motion graphics and hybrid videos are next in line in terms of cost. And the most expensive tends to be fully 3D animated video, which can run into lakhs for the video.

Storytelling videos are an area where 2D animation can actually do the job pretty well. Let’s say if you want explainer videos talking about your products & features, that you want to place on the website. 2D animation is a fantastic medium for this and is simple and quick. But if you're doing a product launch and want to do a thorough feature breakdown, that's where you really want 3D animation to shine, and it's worth the added expense.

  • Entry: 30-80K (2D, simple style, one minute)

  • Mid: 1-3L (motion graphics, hybrid, polished style)

  • Premium: 3L-10L+ (full 3D, complex scenes, product visualization)

  • Tier mover: dimensionality - 2D to 3D is the largest single cost jump in this category

  • Common mistake: choosing animation style based on aesthetics rather than purpose; 2D handles explainers well, 3D earns its cost on product launches and feature showcases.

Common Factors that Impact Video Production Pricing

These are some factors to keep in mind regardless of the kind of video you’re getting done.

  1. Logistics - Can even become 60-70% of total cost on remote shoots. Have a discussion with the production house if this is a large part of the quoted costs, and see if there are workarounds.

  2. Revision cycles - Most quotes cover one to two rounds; messy internal approvals will end up becoming a sore point with the studio, and are best discussed beforehand.

  3. Music and usage rights - Platform clearances and run duration both affect cost; a track cleared for one month of digital use is priced differently from a two-year multi-platform license.

  4. Talent usage rights - Shoot fee and usage fee are separate; discuss these clearly.

  5. Number of deliverables - One shoot, multiple aspect ratios and durations; agree on the full deliverable list before signing.

  6. Brief clarity - The single biggest hidden cost driver; productions that go over budget almost always trace back to a brief that wasn't locked before cameras rolled. Unclear briefs extend pre-production costs significantly - script revisions, additional recces, and delayed shoot dates all add up before a camera rolls.

  7. City of shoot - Crew day rates, location fees, studio costs all vary significantly; Mumbai carries a consistent premium across every line item.

Video Production Budget Clarity: What to Ask For Before You Sign

Walk in knowing the answers to:

  • What am I making and whom is it actually for - the platform, the audience, the specific job this video needs to do.

  • What quality/production tier do I genuinely need - based on the product, the competition, and the longevity of the asset.

  • When you're evaluating video production packages from agencies, the deliverable list and revision rounds included matter as much as the headline number.

The brands that get the best value from production agencies are the ones who show up prepared, not the ones who show up with the biggest budget.
